1. Who we are and what this is
EssaiQ is an AP History essay practice tool operated by Bloom Tech US (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It provides AI-generated feedback on student essays graded against standard AP History rubrics (DBQ, LEQ, and SAQ). EssaiQ is a practice and study tool only — it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to College Board or any official exam organization. Feedback is AI-generated and should not be treated as an official score or guarantee of exam performance.
By accessing or using EssaiQ you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Account creation is blocked for users who indicate they are under 13.
- Users aged 13–17 represent that their parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on their behalf.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You may use the public grading feature (up to 5 essays) without creating an account.
3. What you may submit
You may submit:
- Essays and written responses you authored yourself
- Responses to teacher-assigned questions, AP exam prompts, or other academic assignments, for personal practice and feedback
- Photos or scans of your own test papers and written work, for personal feedback only
You must not submit:
- Essays or written work authored by someone else, represented as your own
- Content that is obscene, harassing, threatening, or illegal
- Personal information of other individuals without their consent
- Content intended to manipulate, exploit, or circumvent the grading system
- Content for the purpose of training, developing, or improving AI or machine learning models without our prior written consent
4. Your content — ownership and license
You retain full ownership of the essays and responses you submit. By submitting content, you grant EssaiQ a limited, non-exclusive license to process your submission solely to provide you with grading feedback and to display your submission history to you within the platform.
We do not claim ownership of your essays. We do not share your essay content with other users. We do not use your submissions to create derivative works or to market our products.
5. AI grading — important limitations
- Grading feedback is generated by an AI model and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.
- AI feedback does not constitute an official AP score and should not be relied upon as a prediction of exam performance.
- EssaiQ is a practice tool. Always consult your teacher for authoritative feedback.
- We continuously work to improve grading accuracy but make no warranty that feedback meets any particular standard of accuracy.
6. AI training — what we do and don't do
EssaiQ does not use student submissions to train AI models.
- We do not permit our AI providers (including Anthropic) to use submitted content for model training purposes.
- Essay text submitted by logged-in users is stored in our database linked to an anonymous ID (not your email) solely to power your history and progress tracking.
- Uploaded images and PDF documents are processed in memory and are never stored in our database.
- Essays submitted through the public grading page (without an account) are not stored at all.
- Voluntary feedback you provide (thumbs up/down, teacher score, comments) is stored anonymously and used only to evaluate and improve grading accuracy — it is never linked to your identity.
7. Student privacy — FERPA, COPPA, and state laws
- FERPA: EssaiQ is a student-facing practice tool used directly by students, not operated on behalf of a school or district. Essay submissions are voluntary and not connected to any school record system. We do not share student data with schools, districts, or government agencies.
- COPPA: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Under-13 accounts require parent approval before activation.
- State privacy laws: We comply with applicable state student privacy laws including SOPIPA (California) and similar statutes. We do not sell student data. We do not use student data for targeted advertising.
- Student submissions are processed under an anonymous ID and are never linked to personally identifiable information in our grading or storage systems.
8. Intellectual property
The EssaiQ platform, including its design, rubric logic, system prompts, and original content, is owned by Bloom Tech US and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
EssaiQ is not affiliated with College Board. AP®, Advanced Placement®, and related marks are trademarks of College Board, which does not endorse or sponsor this product. Exam questions or prompts submitted by users are the intellectual property of their respective owners — EssaiQ does not claim ownership of such content and does not store it beyond the processing necessary to provide feedback.
9. Prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Use automated scripts, bots, or agents to submit essays or access the service at scale
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or reproduce our grading system prompts or rubric logic
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or content moderation
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law or these Terms
- Resell or sublicense access to the service
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
EssaiQ is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI feedback will be accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bloom Tech US shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from use of EssaiQ shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.
11. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Account settings page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon deletion, your essay history and personal data are permanently removed from our systems.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
